Master Corporal Joseph Pascal Adolphe Philippe "Jos" Bilocq, CD (Retired) served as a vehicle technician in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1954 to 1975. Known for his integrity, he declined a post-retirement promotion to sergeant, stating, “If I was not deserving of the sergeant rank when I served then I do not want it.” After his release, he worked as a technical instructor in Quebec, including postings to Peru and General Motors Canada to teach electronics systems.

Legacy & Impact

In retirement, MCpl Bilocq was deeply committed to supporting veterans and building community ties. He was a Life Member of the RCEME Association and the Royal Canadian Legion, and volunteered with the Red Cross, the Association du 22e inc, and others. He coordinated funeral ceremonies for veterans and visited hospitalized members to provide comfort. In 1996, he helped lead a veteran-based protest against the banning of the Canadian flag at Quebec City Hall, raising the flag daily for 27 months despite verbal abuse and physical assaults. His courage, self-control, and loyalty to Canada earned him widespread respect.
